Holmes County Announces New Website

Holmes County is known for being a choice destination for sportsmen as well as main campus of Holmes Community College, and most recently for the launch of its new mobile-friendly website. The innovative site, www.holmescountyms.org, is a rich source of up-to-date information about the County?s elected officials and government services, and reflects the community?s rich history, promotes economic growth, and is a quick guide for residents, businesses and visitors.

To design and program the County?s new website, the Board of Supervisors hired U.S.NEXT, a Mississippi company with an extensive track record of developing apps for counties and cities. ?Being able to communicate with citizens and provide them with useful information is an important part of the Board’s mission,? stated David Crawford, CEO of U.S.NEXT. ?Our team designed and engineered the website to help the County fulfill that mission, and I encourage people to go online and see everything that Holmes County has to offer.?

The new site provides comprehensive and timely information about services provided by County departments, elected officials, frequently asked questions, pay online links, a photo tour, and much more. The website touches on all aspects of county government and offers users easy and efficient access to information, whether at home or office or on the road.

Museums Utilize Web Technology

The past has embraced the future.  Using the Internet as a means to expand their reach, the recently opened Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and the Museum of Mississippi History have launched websites that invite everyone to explore the state?s challenging and interesting background.  The websites, located at www.mscivilrightsmuseum.com and www.mmh.mdah.ms.gov, provide viewers with engaging content, news, online ticket purchase, photo galleries, interactive maps, online donations, and more.

The Mississippi Department of Archives and History hired U.S.NEXT to develop the websites.  ?MDAH told us the sites should be easy to navigate, mobile-friendly, and secure,? said David Crawford, CEO of U.S.NEXT, the largest web development firm headquartered in Mississippi.  ?We also provided a content management system that enables their staff to keep the sites up-to-date with the latest news, text, photos, and videos.?

The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum shares the stories of a movement that changed the nation.  The museum promotes a greater understanding of the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement and its impact by highlighting the strength and sacrifices of its peoples.  Visitors will witness the freedom struggle in eight interactive galleries that show the systematic oppression of black Mississippians and their fight for equality that transformed the state and nation.

The Museum of Mississippi History encourages people to explore and appreciate the state’s history, presenting rich and complex stories that illustrate how the past influences their future together.  The museum explores over 15,000 years of state history.  Visitors will enjoy innovative exhibits, educational programs, and hundreds of artifacts.

Bear Creek named Water Distribution System of the Year

We are very proud that our client, Bear Creek Water Association, has been named 2017 Water Distribution System of the Year. Here is what was said in a recent article in the Madison County Journal:

Bear Creek Water Association has again earned the maximum score of 5.0/5.0 from the Mississippi State Department of Health for the drinking water supply, officials announced last week.

?The Mississippi State Department of Health conducts a yearly inspection, and gives a score based on several criteria,? Bear Creek Water Association General Manager Nolan Williamson said.  “The three categories are technical, managerial, and financial. We are pleased that we have received the maximum score of 5.0 in all three categories.

“Our board of directors has worked very hard to make sure we stay financially sound, and our staff of licensed water operators makes sure all of our sampling, testing, and compliance is monitored per the regulatory requirements,? he continued. “And the State Department of Health staff is helpful in providing any necessary guidance. Our goal is to provide the safest drinking water that we possibly can to our customers.?

Bear Creek Water Association provides water service to portions of the City of Canton, City of Madison, City of Ridgeland, and unincorporated areas of south Madison County. Bear Creek Water Association was named the Mississippi Water Distribution System of the Year for both 2015 and 2016 by the American Water Works Association. Bear Creek Water Association employee Jill Vaughn was named the Mississippi Water Operator of the Year for 2015.
